IntroductionHoly Trinity is a Church of England Aided School dating back to 1873 when the original school was built on Church Street close to the town centre. There were originally two schools on site, an infant school and a junior school. In 1988 the two schools amalgamated and in September 2000 we opened an Early Years Unit. The present Holy Trinity caters for a maximum of 315 boys and girls between the ages of 4 and 11. Our Early Years Unit currently takes children part-time from the age of 4. There are proposals to build a new nursery unit, as part of our Foundation stage with a planned opening date of January 2005.We would then offer provision from nursery to year 6. The school is situated towards the centre of Ossett, close to the Parish Church. Ossett is a market town, 4 miles from Wakefield, 10 miles from Leeds 20 miles from Sheffield and 8 miles from Huddersfield. The school is a large spacious building with eleven classrooms and a large main hall. A small room has been converted into a group room, which is the base for SENCO and small group teaching. In 1966 the Parish room was converted with the help of staff and parents into a purpose built library. This is now timetabled, all classes having the opportunity of visiting it at least once a week. The basement was converted in 1998 into an Information Communications Technology Suite with 15-networked computers, digital projector and interactive whiteboard. All children from Early Years to Year 6 use this facility.
