Literacy

Our approach to English places the child at the centre of our planning, as our core aim is to develop a sequence of lessons and blocks of work which are immersed in motivating, context based, purposeful, fun activities.

We have a set purpose for reading and writing at the heart of each of the 'blocks of work'  with the key grammar, spelling and punctuation skills running as a constant thread through school, crucially the skills are then applied across the whole curriculum.

The foundation subjects provide the basis for our reading and writing development, whilst also providing the basis for the lively, creative English activities that we offer the children.

The targetted range of key grammar and punctuation skills, taught within carefully planned blocks of work, allied to the fun, purpose-fulled activities make for a Literacy curriculum which, we believe, challenges and allows the children to achieve their potential.
